Anglican Diocese of Johannesburg Library

With over 9000 books, this library is now well established with books from 19th century to 21st century. As it falls under the auspices of School for Ministries, the focus is on theology, with doctrine and spirituality being the largest sections. All aspects of Christianity are available, from AIDS to Worship, biographies of ancients to our current Archbishop as well as a few novels with a scriptural bias.

Church history is supported by South African And world secular history. Various translations of the Bible are there with commentaries and other books on Old Testament, New Testament and the Apocrypha.

We try to keep the library open daily, but as it relies on volunteers, it is always advisable to telephone the Diocesan Office (011 375 2700) prior to leaving home. You are free to browse and there are comfortable chairs to help you choose the books you need. All books are captured on Library computer so it is necessary to purchase a membership card (R10) and this will allow a one month loan.

Retiring clergy often donate their libraries to us so extra copies are there for the taking.
